WHY THE WORK IS DIFFERENT

The exercise is not the expertise.

Exercises are easy to find. The real value lies in understanding which movement your body needs, why it needs it and what should change as a result.

I observe how you move, listen to what you feel and test the relationships between different parts of your body. I then adapt the work in real time—responding to the small shifts, compensations and changes that cannot be captured by a generic programme.

This is skilled movement analysis, tailored Pilates and experienced professional judgement, applied responsively rather than delivered from a script. Whether we work individually, in a small group or through a focused workshop, the aim is not simply to complete exercises, but to create change that carries into your health, your performance and your life.

Different ways to begin.

Some people need space to unpick a complex pattern. Others need intelligent, consistent movement—or time to explore one subject in greater depth.

Individual movement sessions

A highly individual process combining movement analysis and specialist Pilates—whether you are managing pain, returning from injury, moving through change or seeking better performance.

Pilates classes

Small-group and online Pilates that develops awareness, mobility, strength and confidence—not simply a sequence of exercises.

Workshops and experiences

Focused experiences that bring education and movement together, giving you time to understand, explore and feel what changes.

Individual movement sessions

Individual sessions create space to understand how your body is organising movement and what it needs next. You may be managing pain or restriction, returning after injury or treatment, developing athletic performance, or simply wanting Pilates shaped entirely around you. We look at how the whole body is sharing load, identify what is limiting progress and build movement that supports your goals.

This may be right for you if…

  • Pain or restriction keeps returning

  • You are living with recurring or non-specific lower back pain, diagnosed sciatica or reduced confidence after a flare-up

  • Your body has changed through injury, surgery, illness or treatment

  • You have a specific sporting or performance goal

  • You want to understand your body in greater depth

  • You want regular Pilates shaped entirely around you and your priorities

What happens in a session

We begin with conversation, observation and movement. Depending on your goals, the session may combine release work, Pilates equipment, movement exploration, strength and carefully selected exercises. We reassess as we go, so the work responds to what your body is showing rather than following a fixed routine.

SPECIALIST BACK PAIN SUPPORT

Qualified Body Control Pilates Back4Good® Practitioner and Low Back Pain Specialist.

“Sarah’s classes keep me moving and able to do the things I love. Her knowledge is vast, and the 1:1s I have in her studio help to fix all the little niggles and straighten me out after life’s ups and downs.”
Sheelagh

Pilates classes

These are not classes built around simply getting through a repertoire. Each class has a clear movement theme and a reason behind it. You learn what you are feeling, why it matters and how movement can be adapted to your own body. Small groups allow for observation and individual adjustment, while consistent practice builds mobility, strength, balance and confidence.

Classes with purpose

Every class is planned around a specific theme—from feet, breathing and the psoas to spinal mobility, balance and strength. The focus changes, but the thread remains: understand first, then move with more choice.

Ways to join

  • Small-group, in-person classes

  • Live Zoom classes from home

  • Catch-up options within the term

  • Weekly class recordings

“Sarah is incredibly knowledgeable but communicates in simple, relatable language. She is very observant and tailors the exercises to your body on that day, so everyone can work at the level that is right for them. Her classes are interesting, inclusive and fun.”
Margaret

Workshops and experiences

Some subjects deserve more than a few minutes within a class. Workshops create time to understand a movement theme in depth, then explore it through release, mobility, strength and integrated movement. Other experiences take that same intelligent approach into exceptional settings—connecting movement with nature, place and community.

Specialist workshops

Focused sessions exploring one movement theme—such as the spine, hips, breathing or balance—through education, release, mobility and strength. You leave with a clearer understanding of your own body and practical ways to continue.

Movement experiences

Movement experiences take the work beyond the studio, using exceptional settings to connect movement with nature, place and other people. The experience around the class matters too: time to pause, walk, talk and feel part of something.

You don’t need to know where to begin.

Tell me what is happening, what you want to return to and why it feels difficult now. I will reply personally, ask anything else I need to understand and help you decide whether individual work, a class or a specialist experience is the right starting point.

If Pilates is not the right next step—or something needs clarifying first—I will say so. You do not need to work that out before contacting me.
